Academies in Action: Looking Forward to Learners Returning to Campus image

Each month, we take a moment to learn from the educational leaders who are bringing the Acceleration Academies mission to life, day in and day out, by asking them to answer a simple prompt. This month, we asked our Academy Directors, As graduation candidates return to campus after studying remotely during the pandemic, what are you most looking forward to? Here is what they had to say.

I’m looking forward to seeing the graduation candidates interact with one another, build new friendships and enjoy the social aspect of high school.

— Alison Hansen, Director, Bethel (WA)

As GCs return to our campuses, we are enjoying spending time with each student individually. Their beautiful smiles, energy and perseverance through this pandemic has been inspiring.

— Wendy Thompson, Director, Clark County (NV)

The pandemic took a lot from our students academically, socially and emotionally. We’re looking forward to re-engaging their presence in their own success.

— Dr. Jacinta Bryant, Director, Lowcountry Acceleration Academy

Gina Montagnino-Fiske HeadshotI’m most looking forward to seeing the GCs on site, hearing their laughter, seeing their smiles and feeling the energy they bring to our academies each day. We’re excited to have “life” return to the academies.

— Gina Montagnino-Fiske, Director, Miami-Dade (FL)

Monetta Rustin HeadshotI am excited to interact with our GCs face-to-face and watch the relationships bloom between our staff members and our young learners. I am also thrilled to meet some of our newer GCs in person for the first time and provide them the opportunity to be nourished physically and academically on campus.

— Monetta Ruskin, Director, Sarasota (FL).

Paige Latham HeadshotI’m excited to have our GCs in a new space at our consolidated campus. Having all of the GCs and staff together will bring a whole new dynamic to the learning environment as well as promote more collaboration between everyone in the SLAA family.

— Paige Latham, Director, St. Lucie (FL)
