A New Tuition-Free Community High School Is Opening in Cincinnati

If traditional high school hasn't worked out the way you hoped, you're not alone.

Some students fall behind on credits. Others juggle jobs, family responsibilities, anxiety, health concerns or life circumstances that make a rigid school schedule difficult to manage.

The good news? Falling behind doesn't mean your future is over.

This July, Cincinnati Acceleration Academies will open its doors to students ages 14-21 who need a different path to earning a high school diploma.

Here are five things families and students should know about this new tuition-free community high school in Cincinnati.

1. Cincinnati Acceleration Academies is Designed for Students Who Need a Different Path to Graduation

Traditional school doesn't work for every student, and that’s OK.

Some students need more flexibility. Others need more support. Many simply need an environment where they feel understood, encouraged and able to make progress at their own pace.

Cincinnati Acceleration Academies serves students who have fallen behind in credits, left school before graduating or are looking for a learning environment that better fits their individual needs.

Whether you're balancing work, parenting responsibilities, mental health challenges or simply looking for a fresh start, the Academy was built with students like you in mind.

2. It's a Tuition-Free Community High School

Cincinnati Acceleration Academies is a tuition-free public community high school, making it an accessible option for students throughout the Cincinnati area.

Students earn credits toward an Ohio high school diploma while receiving personalized support designed to help them stay on track toward graduation.

The goal is simple: remove barriers that have historically made earning a diploma more difficult and create a clear path forward.

3. Students Learn Through a Flexible Hybrid Model

Life doesn't always fit neatly into a traditional school schedule.

That's why Cincinnati Acceleration Academies uses a hybrid learning model that combines an engaging online curriculum that’s available 24 hours a day, seven days a week with weekly in-person academic coaching at the Academy.

Students can work on coursework at times that make sense for their schedules while still receiving personable, face-to-face support from teachers, mentors and staff at the Academy.

For students balancing jobs, medical appointments, caregiving responsibilities or parenting, this flexibility can make all the difference.

4. Students Take One Course at a Time

For many students, juggling six or seven classes at once can feel overwhelming.

At Cincinnati Acceleration Academies, students take one course at a time and move on to the next after they’ve demonstrated course mastery. Most courses can be completed in as little as two to four weeks.

This unique approach helps students stay focused, better retain what they’ve learned, build momentum and experience success more quickly. It's a simple concept, but one that helps many students regain confidence in their ability to succeed.

5. Every Student Receives Personalized Support

Earning a diploma isn't just about completing coursework.

It's also about having people in your corner who believe in you.

Every student at Cincinnati Acceleration Academies receives a personalized learning plan designed around their goals and academic progress. Students also work closely with teachers, mentors and support staff who help them stay motivated and moving forward.

At Acceleration Academies, students are known as "Graduation Candidates" because the focus is always on the end goal: graduating and preparing for what's next.

Whether that next step is college, trade school, military service or a career, the Academy is committed to helping students build a future they can be proud of.

A New Opportunity for Cincinnati Students

Too many students begin to believe that graduation is no longer possible for them.

Cincinnati Acceleration Academies exists to change that story.

By combining flexible scheduling, one-course-at-a-time learning, personalized support and a welcoming environment, the Academy offers students a real second chance to finish high school.

Beginning in July, students can start their educational journey with Cincinnati Acceleration Academies at a temporary space on the Xavier University campus while construction and renovations are completed at the Academy's permanent location in North Avondale.

The permanent Academy site, located at 4030 Reading Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45229, is scheduled to open for the 2026-27 school year on Aug.18.

Enrollment is now open for high school students ages 14-21.
