Broward County Acceleration Academies Now Open for Students

Acceleration Academies, in partnership with Broward County Public Schools (BCPS), is now open in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. 

This innovative program provides students in grades 9-12 a flexible, supportive alternative high school in Broward County. 

The Acceleration Academies Difference for High School

Unlike traditional public schools in Florida, Broward County Acceleration Academies takes a one-class-at-a-time approach to learning. 

By only working on one course at a time, students are able to fully focus on each subject, master it, complete testing and move on at a comfortable pace. Each course is designed to be finished in 3-4 weeks.

The 100% online curriculum provided by Acceleration Academies allows high school students to learn from anywhere. And, flexible scheduling gives busy learners the opportunity to complete schoolwork and receive personalized support at the academy on a schedule that works best for them. 

Yes, that does mean students are encouraged to attend in-person at the academy for 12 hours each week even though their curriculum is online.

Many students and parents have even told us that Acceleration Academies gives them the best of both worlds — the freedom and flexibility to complete high school online from anywhere AND the ability to foster positive relationships with peers because Acceleration Academies provides the in-person element that other virtual high schools don’t offer.

On-site attendance at Broward County Acceleration Academies has many benefits: 

• Technology that is essential to learning is available for students to checkout as needed.
• Students get in-person access to their teachers — who we call content coaches. 
• Support staff, such as career and life coaches and student advocates, are available to meet with students in-person to review personalized learning plans, set goals for after graduation and discuss academic progress to make sure students are on track to graduate.
• Work with other students and build new friendships. 

Designed for Success

Acceleration Academies prides itself on creating student-centered spaces. The design of our newest Florida site located near Fort Lauderdale’s Progresso Village, is no different.

Featuring a large open main area that looks more like a coffee shop than a high school, Broward County Acceleration Academies offers a modern, bright learning environment. Comfortable couches instead of rows of desks fill the room, and bistro tables and chairs tucked away in smaller learning pods create a mature setting.

Students are greeted each day by a friendly staff member at the front check-in desk and are free to choose where they sit while they’re on campus. Teachers — also known as content coaches — are stationed throughout the room to help students when they have questions about their course material.

In the academy cafe, students can grab a free snack or drink to help fuel their studies.

And for testing? Students get a state-of-the-art room complete with low-stimulus lighting. We’ve found that this creates a calming and relaxing environment that encourages better test performance.

Begin Your Journey to a High School Diploma

Broward County Acceleration Academies enrolls students in Broward County, Florida, who are between the ages of 14-20 and are eligible for grades 9-12. 

As a partnership program with Broward County Public Schools, our program is free for all eligible students. 

Enrolling at Broward County Acceleration Academies means Florida students receive:

• High school credit recovery support
• The ability to accelerate their high school experience and graduate early
• Year-round enrollment
• 24-hour access to online classes
• Personalized in-person and virtual academic support from licensed teachers
• Social-emotional support from trusted mentors
• Extended academy hours to accommodate student work schedules
• A Florida high school diploma once all graduation requirements have been met

To apply, students or their legal guardians must complete the online application. 

Our enrollment counselors review applications and will reach out if more information is needed. They will also reach out once a student has been approved to enroll at Acceleration Academies or if their application has been denied.
