Family, friends and educators gathered recently to celebrate the latest class of graduates from Miami-Dade Acceleration Academies — honoring young women and men who pushed through challenges to earn their dream of a high school diploma.
“We are very excited to celebrate the amazing accomplishments and resiliency of these young men and women seated in front of us,” MDAA Director Marcus Moore told the crowd, noting that the academy has helped more than 400 young learners successfully re-engage in high school and move on to college, military service and a wide range of careers.
“Today we celebrate 51 new graduates. Each graduate has worked tirelessly to overcome significant barriers to experience this moment,” Moore continued. “We are so proud of you and the work you have done. Don’t let this moment go by without taking a deep breath and honoring yourself for doing what it took to earn your high school diploma.
“You did not get here by accident or luck. You arrived at this moment in your life because you made the decision to do so. Some decisions only affect us in the short term, but some decisions will impact us for a lifetime,” he said. “The MDAA staff is very proud of you! Thank you graduates and families for choosing us on your journey to accomplishing your dreams and goals.”
