THE FLIPPED CLASSROOM
Class time feels more active
You might have a job outside of school, need to take care of your parents, have a child to care for or simply want to graduate as soon as possible. Even if you just need more time for your assignments, having to go to school for 8 hours a day can be a challenge to commit to.
What if there was a program that put your needs first and helped you reach your academic and personal goals?
Meet blended learning, a way to get a high school diploma built for you.
Blended learning is an approach to education that combines several ways of learning. It aims to consider what the student needs above all else. This can look a few different ways depending on the school and what individuals at that school need.
Blended learning comes in all shapes and styles.
In a flipped classroom, teachers assign reading and work for students to complete before class. That way, they can use class time to debrief about the assignments and think about them on a deeper level.
This way of teaching gives class time a more active feel, letting students learn at their own pace. This also gives the teacher time to teach every student individually instead of focusing on the class as a whole.
Giving students time to think deeply about each topic also helps with student retention. As students interact with the information more and have the chance to discuss it with their peers, they understand it better.
It’s called a “flipped classroom” because students look at new material for the first time on their own instead of the teacher presenting it to them in class. This flips the traditional model of high school education!
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, variations of virtual learning have gained popularity. However, fully online learning is not for everyone. That’s where the enriched virtual model comes in.
The enriched virtual model blends online learning with in-class instruction. Through this model, students go through class sessions led by an instructor, sometimes in the classroom physically and sometimes through virtual classrooms.
In this model, students aren’t left alone to figure out remote learning. Instead, they’re equipped to connect with their instructors through the online platform and in person. Students also have the structure of scheduled class times with their instructors, giving them dedicated time to interact with teachers and ask their questions.
Where flipped classrooms and online learning mainly stick to their distinct styles and formats, hybrid learning combines both. Hybrid learning can use online courses and materials while having students meet in the classroom and receive in-person instruction.
Hybrid learning puts student schedules and experiences at the center of their work. This model often allows students to choose when it works best for them to come into the classroom and do their on-site hours.
Plus, a more personalized schedule leads to a more customized education overall, as teachers can give more space to students in hybrid settings.

At Acceleration Academies, we’ve perfected the blended learning model. In our academies, every student works with our coaches to build a schedule that works for them.
Our curriculum is housed online, but students come into the academies 12-24 hours a week. This time on site helps them build relationships with their classmates and coaches, receive personalized support and get valuable career guidance, all without sacrificing their schedules and responsibilities outside of school.
With our model, you’ll be able to earn your high school diploma on your time, with plenty of help and support from our dedicated teachers.
